The Monroe County History Center

During my time as an education intern at MCHC, I created digitized versions of existing programs/activities for the museum's Google Classroom because we couldn't have in-person programming due to Covid. The program topic I focused on was Indiana geology because of my personal interest in natural history and the prior knowledge I had of Indiana geology due to growing up in Southern Indiana and having a parent who used to be a geologist. Below are links to the content I created.

Geology Educational Content

This is a PowerPoint with video narration done by me concerning karst landscapes and features in Indiana

This is a video about the different rocks and fossils you would most likely find in Indiana, along with a few that are not likely to be found here.

This is a video about minerals and geodes, and especially about how one would identify minerals and also what kinds of geodes are found in Indiana.

What I Contributed

  • Selected educational items to use for the content

  • Edited the scripts for each program

  • Filmed each video with minor assistance from mentor

  • Edited each video

  • Provided a tour to 8-10 year olds and chaperones
